Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), obtained from whole blood, has been used in humans for its healing properties attributed to the increased concentrations of growth factors that enhance the healing process of injured cells and tissue, as well as to recruit, stimulate and regenerate tissue such as fat cells. While their role in clotting is well understood, their significance in enhancing fat grafting is currently under investigation. At his Sasaki Advanced Aesthetic Medical Center in Pasadena, Dr. Sasaki studies the effects of PRP to enhance skin care treatments, fat transfer, and stimulate hair growth.

Researching the Uses of PRP
Dr. Sasaki is an early user, clinical investigator and consultant in the use of PRP in aesthetic procedures such as a cell supplement to fat grafting to sustain its survival, and, in combination with microneedling to stimulate hair growth , and rejuvenate skin during facelifts. Dr. Sasaki and others are contributing to the few controlled, clinical studies with evidence-based data to determine the safety and effectiveness of PRP. He has presented his experience in over 150 patients with PRP and fat grafting at national and international symposia for the past 3 years demonstrating improved retention rates in facial aesthetic augmentation after facelifts.
