Choose Kybella and Say Goodbye to Your Double Chin

Choose Kybella and Say Goodbye to Your Double Chin

Sometimes age, sometimes weight gain, and sometimes genetics add an extra layer of fat to the area under your chin. Whatever the cause, a double chin is a common source of frustration for men and women.

Triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gordon H. Sasaki and his expertly trained team at Sasaki Advanced Aesthetic Medical Center in Pasadena, California, offer top-level surgical, nonsurgical, and skin care services for all your cosmetic needs.

Here’s why the Sasaki team includes Kybella® in their impressive selection of advanced aesthetic treatments.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment used to improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe submental fat, commonly known as a “double chin.”

Deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat, is the active ingredient in Kybella. When injected into the area under your chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, reducing the volume of submental fat and improving the contour of your jawline.

When provided by a qualified professional, Kybella injections can dramatically improve your appearance and self-confidence without surgery or incisions.

Who is a good candidate for Kybella injections?

Your experience at Sasaki Advanced Medical Aesthetics starts with a complete evaluation that includes a physical exam, medical history review, and a thorough discussion of your cosmetic goals and expectations.

Dr. Sasaki then develops a treatment strategy customized to fit your needs and expectations. People who are overall healthy with medium-to-large amounts of submental fat are often excellent candidates for Kybella injections.

However, Kybella does not tighten skin or lift muscles. Thus, excessively lax or loose skin around the jowls, chin, and neck may require other types of therapy to achieve the desired cosmetic results.

Dr. Sasaki discusses your options in detail before proceeding with any treatments and works with you to develop a strategy that fits your circumstances and needs.

Will I need multiple Kybella treatments?

Typically delivered as a series of injections, Kybella treatments are given in-house at our Sasaki Advanced Injection and Device Center by Dr. Sasaki or a highly trained nurse specialist.

Each treatment session involves multiple injections into the chin area. The number of sessions you require can vary, depending on the amount of submental fat and the desired results. Ultimately, most people notice visible results within two to four treatment sessions that are spaced at least one month apart.

Are Kybella injections painful?

Discomfort associated with Kybella injections varies from person-to-person. However, our Sasaki team is skilled in injection techniques, speeding up the process while minimizing pain and ensuring a safe and effective result.

Most people tolerate Kybella injections quite well. However, we can apply numbing cream or ice to the treatment area before the injections. Dr. Sasaki could also choose a formulation that contains a local anesthetic (lidocaine) to reduce discomfort.
